EXPLORE@BRISTOL, UK

ICE, LIBERTY STATION, SAN DIEGO

Ice in Dan Diego - usually only floats in our drinks, but this shimmering structure which could be associated with the traditional holiday season, actually represents the chemical properties of ice and water. The water molecules, made of one oxygen atom (red) and two hydrogen atoms (white) bonded together, are floating freely in the pool. When the cold allows these molecules to cluster tightly together, they change their state and become ice (solid water). This light installation is totally off the grid, powered from a single solar panel. Commissioned by NTC foundation for the opening of the new ice rink at Liberty Station's Arts & Cultural District, and fabricated by SD Sound Solution.
BEHIND THE PUPPETREE, SAN DIEGO

A multi-layered sculpture that tickles viewers into looking behind the camouflage. Swinging in the wind, the puppets form a power play that can be viewed through whimsical, ecological or ideological prisms. Commissioned for the "Urban Tree" exhibit along San Diego's Embarcadero promenade.
BUTTERFLY PARK, NATIONAL CITY

Through collaboration between Pomegranate Centre, ARTS (A Reason to Survive), and the city of National City, a misused space was transformed by hundreds of volunteers and neighbours building a performance space, seating structures, planting, and creating mosaic on tables and stairways.
